Impact Hosts Inaugural Sales Competition

Students in career oriented-majors at colleges and universities understand the importance of real-world skills that can be developed at college. Often the development of these skills must occur outside the classroom, and students who realize their importance have a distinct competitive advantage over those who do not. Because of the value that Impact places on these real-world skills, we are involved on college campuses where we recruit top talent from sales and business-related programs.
Keeping with this level of involvement, Impact decided to host a sales competition at its Lake Forest Corporate Headquarters. The sales competition was the brain child of the recruiting department, with significant contributions from the marketing department and sales managers. Designed to help students hone valuable skills such as interviewing and delivering a perfect pitch, the first Impact sales competition hosted students from four area universities and gave students the opportunity to flex their sales skills with Impact sales managers and executives.
Director of Recruiting Cynthia Skurski described the importance of the sales competitions and other similar events as a method for recruiting top talent. “Sales Competitions are a great way to see students in a different setting other than a career fair or networking event. You are able to see how prepared they are, how they perform under pressure, and how they respond to objections. We’ve hired many students who first sparked our interest in this type of setting.”
Over sixty students from four area universities gathered at Impact headquarters for this inaugural sales competition, which was considered a valuable experience by the students who attended, and by the Impact employees and executives that were able to participate.
